About Dr. Martinez

Dr. Eric Miguel Martinez was born in Brooklyn and raised between New York and the Dominican Republic, a heritage that shaped his path to medicine through the lenses of resilience, cultural pride, and service. His lifelong fascination with the biological sciences and the human body’s capacity for recovery inspired a career dedicated to restoring not only physical function but the overall quality of life for his patients.

He earned his undergraduate degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Brooklyn College (CUNY), followed by a Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies of Physical and Biological Sciences from Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Martinez went on to earn his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Touro College, where he distinguished himself as a leader, serving as the President of the Latino Medical Student Association and as an instructor in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine.

Dr. Martinez completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. There, he received advanced training in neuromuscular evaluation, diagnosis, and comprehensive rehabilitation, focusing on the intricate relationship between the nervous system and physical mobility. He continued his elite training with a Fellowship in Pain Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. This rare, multidisciplinary fellowship allowed him to master pain management for both adult and pediatric populations, making him uniquely equipped to treat complex pain cases across all ages.

As a Board-Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Dr. Martinez offers extensive expertise in a wide array of cutting-edge procedures. He is highly proficient in fluoroscopy- and ultrasound-guided techniques, including epidural steroid injections, medial branch blocks, radiofrequency ablations, peripheral nerve blocks, and joint injections. His surgical expertise extends to neuromodulation, where he performs spinal cord stimulator trials and implants, as well as peripheral nerve stimulation. He is also recognized for his work in regenerative and functional treatments, including Botox for spasticity and the management of complex cases like “frozen shoulder” and CRPS.

His approach integrates osteopathic principles with evidence-based, innovative medicine and a deeply patient-centered philosophy. As a native Spanish speaker, Dr. Martinez is passionate about health equity and ensuring that every patient feels seen and understood. His clinical work is defined by the belief that compassionate care begins with truly understanding the person behind the pain, combining high-level technical precision with a holistic focus on long-term recovery.

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Martinez is a prolific researcher and an active member of the medical community. His work has been published in the Pain Physician Journal and presented at national conferences for the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine (ASRA) and the North American Neuromodulation Society (NANS). He has also served as a Resident/Fellow Ambassador for ASIPP and has volunteered his medical skills for events like the New York City Marathon and global medical brigades in Honduras.

Outside of the office, Dr. Martinez stays active through basketball, baseball, and pickleball. A loyal fan of the New York sports scene—supporting the Mets, Jets, and Knicks—he also enjoys the outdoors through hiking and camping, and values the opportunity to explore new cultures through travel.

“I believe that compassionate care begins with truly understanding the person behind the pain and making every patient feel seen, heard, and understood.”
