Paul B. Johnson, M.D. was born in Santa Monica, California. He then moved to Reno, Nevada with his family. Dr. Johnson stayed in Nevada and completed his undergraduate studies in Biology achieving the Dean’s list for academic excellence. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Nevada School of Medicine gaining honors in Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, and Pulmonary Medicine. Dr. Johnson won the “Excellence in Research Award” and “Best Abstract Award” at the Western Student Medical Research Forum in 2000. He completed his internship in internal medicine at the University of Nevada School of Medicine. Dr. Paul B. Johnson was then accepted and trained at one of the top Anesthesia residencies in the country, the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. While at the University of Iowa his areas of interest included regional anesthesia, pain medicine and critical care medicine. He designed and participated in research involving regional anesthetic techniques and implemented a system for ambulatory peripheral nerve catheters for post-operative analgesia.
Upon completion of his residency Dr. Johnson returned to southern California to pursue subspecialty fellowship training in Interventional Pain Management at the University of California, Los Angeles, the top interventional pain medicine program in the country.
Dr. Johnson is married and enjoys martial arts, running, mountain bicycling, SCUBA diving, hiking, and surfing. |
